The Calabasas, California-based funk-metal outfit Incubus was formed in 1991 by high school friends Brandon Boyd (vocals), Mike Einziger (guitars), Alex Katunich (bass) and Jose Pasillas (drums). Within a year of formation the group was regularly playing all-ages clubs throughout Southern California, in 1995 tapping DJ Lyfe to join their ranks for the independently released album Fungus Amongus.
