It's crazy interviewing Prince Ade. You try keeping focused on a well-researched list of questions when you're being bombarded by amazing impressions, and off this world one liners. At one point I could have sworn with all my life that he was the son of a Zulu chief and the next minute he was chief Yakahuta a native black foot indian. Then out of no where came a chinese than an indian, before retiring back to his English accent. Before the interview even began I was left weeping with laughter and struggling to remember what my initial questions were in the first place. Prince Ade stood over 6 feet tall, built like a tank he could hardly fit in through the cafe door. He looked like he had just been released from a highly secured prison, with a silver Crucifix dangling off his neck. He spoke calmly and precise, he had managed a band I had earlier did a review on, 'SEED'. Prince Ade's album, 'Awakening' is due out in early 2007, with his first single release before December. I listened to the album from his lap top in the cafe and I was total chilled but yet awaken. It's hard to explain, it's magical, something Hip-hop has been missing, a cry out for reality. The tracks questioned my beliefs and painted several pictures in my mind in it's soothing state. It felt like it was design to send you to a state of tranquility only to whip you back to the harsh reality of life. The album is a master piece his style is a combination of poetry, spirituality, spoken word, political and ambient. Writing about politics is risky business in the current musical industry, but this passionate rapper is first in line to speak his mind what ever the consequences. In terms of delivery, Prince Ade is a mixture of 2Pac and 50 Cents.
He raps about growth; the awakening of ones inner self and realization of the spiritual being that we are. In the track, 'Sunita Patel' he paints the picture of a casualty of love. I recommend any Asian or any body in a mix ethnic relationship to listen to this track, it's absolutely maind blowing. Sunital Patel addresses the issues of arrange marriage with out holding back, Prince Ade tells it how it is. My favourite track from the album is 'Deep', here he tells how about who he his and flowed like an ocean. Prince Ade said his first single of the album might be, 'Tomorrows Child' I love the rhyming in this track. I've been playing the CD over and over again at home, it's full of word of wisdom and it amazingly chills you out with his deep and smooth voice. In his own word, "I flow like the river Nile". Prince Ade is An outspoken and colorful artist. He bigs up his main producer Phil Marcs and his crew Da Blackstone. I recommend you look out for his album.
